Free, nonpartisan app helps Hoosiers check polling place wait times ahead of National Voter Registration Day.
INDIANAPOLIS — Ahead of National Voter Registration Day on September 15, IN Tech for Progress today announced the return of Vote IN Time, a free tool that shows Hoosiers real-time wait times at polling locations during early voting and on Election Day. Formerly known as Indiana Vote Times, the app will be available statewide in all 92 Indiana counties for the first time, expanding from the five counties it served in 2024.
Vote IN Time loads directly in a phone's web browser — no download, account, or sign-up required. Voters can find their nearest polling location and see an estimated wait time before they leave home, then anonymously report how long the line was to help the next voter in line. Wait time estimates are powered entirely by these anonymous, crowd-sourced check-ins from voters, while polling locations and hours are provided by county clerks' offices.
“Most Hoosiers vote in person, and getting there takes planning — arranging transportation, work, or childcare around it,” the organization said. “With turnout expected to be high in 2026, lines may be long and hard to predict. Vote IN Time gives voters the same kind of real-time information they'd use to check how busy a restaurant is, so they can plan ahead and vote with confidence.”
“We built Vote IN Time because Hoosiers shouldn't have to guess how long a line will be before they decide whether they have time to vote,” said Roger Deetz, Founder & CEO of IN Tech for Progress. “Expanding to all 92 counties means every Hoosier — not just those in a handful of counties — can use this tool to plan their trip to the polls this November.”
Vote IN Time will be live from October 6 through November 3, 2026, covering the full early in-person voting period and Election Day. The app is built and maintained entirely by volunteers from Indiana's tech community and is not affiliated with any candidate, political party, or government agency. The 2026 rollout is supported by a grant from the Indianapolis Foundation.
